1964 Chevrolet Biscayne 409/425

1964 was the last year for the second generation Biscayne which could be ordered Chevrolet’s big-block V8 engine including the 409/425HP. Included with the package was the Muncie 4-Speed transmission with Hurst shifter and different final drive.

The Chevy Impala Biscayne is one of the most iconic American muscle scars in existence, spanning 27 continuous years through six generations, and the ‘Super Sport’ trim and performance packages represent some of the most desirable options across many Chevrolet models. This 3rd gen example represents the best combination of power and performance offered in ’64, the original 409 cu. in. 6.7L ‘Turbo Thrust’ V8 producing 425hp and mated to a Muncie M-21 4-speed manual transmission and 411 ‘Posi-Traction’ rear-end. Oh, and it also still has the original mint-condition duel snorkel L-80 air cleaner giving the ‘MagnaFlow’ stainless exhaust an appropriately pleasing rumble.

The fawn interior sounds to be factory correct as well, and looks to be in nice shape to match the exterior. Note the column-mounted tach, underdash gauges, and OEM kinked shift lever for the Muncie 4-speed.

The big “Jet Smooth” Chevrolet Impala, Bel air and Biscayne returned for 1964 stronger than ever with the new squared-up styling. With much popularity the full-sized Chevy line-up was known for its glamour and comfort all the way down to its performance. The Impala remained the top of the line model offering, followed by the mid-line Bel Air and then the affordable Biscayne. Production continued to soar.
