1955 Ford Fairlane Crown Victoria
Ford Motor Company used the name ″Skyliner″ for 1954 and 1956 models, but NOT for the ″1955 Ford Fairlane Crown Victoria Transparent Top″ model. 1955 Ford brochures, manuals, and advertisements state ″Transparent Top.″ Dealerships abbreviated the name to ″T/P″ or ″T/T.″
However, the 1955 car is often (mistakenly) referred to as a ″Skyliner″ as it has a transparent top just like the named ″Skyliner″ 1954 and 1956 models have.
″Glass Top″ is a common street name for transparent top Fords.
This 1955 Ford Crown Victoria Skyliner has outstanding, like new body lines with excellent alignment and beautiful paint, which was resprayed a number of years ago. The chrome is also exceptional with only the slightest of imperfections. The engine compartment is equally as impressive and this classic still drives like a new vehicle due to decades and decades of proper maintenance.
Representing the midpoint of Ford’s engine selections in 1955, its 272 CI Y-block overhead-valve V-8 is fitted with a 4-barrel carburetor, dual exhausts and a correct oil-bath air cleaner, and it’s coupled to a 3-speed Ford-O-Matic automatic transmission.
It has been restored in Snowshoe White and Tropical Rose colors, with matching vinyl interior and black carpets. It is equipped with a tinted glass top, push-button radio, electric clock, Magic Aire heater-defroster, dual exterior mirrors, cruiser fender skirts, chrome lake pipes and Continental kit.
The rarest of 1955 Fords, this car is a superb find. The quality of the restoration is excellent, with attention to detail in all respects. Equally at home on the show field or on the road, it will give immense pleasure to its any owner.
