1966 Willys Interlagos
The Berlinetta Willys Interlagos was the Renault Alpine A108, produced under license in Brazil, by Willys Overland do Brazil, from 1962 to 1966. The Renault Alpine A108, released in 1961, was designed by Giovanni Michelotti and Jean Redele, founder of Alpine, modified the design creating the Berlinetta version. This car is one of 744 and one of the last series produced in 1966. It is believed to be the only one in the USA. It is estimated that only 1/3 of the cars produced in Brazil are currently roadworthy.
This 1966 Willys Interlagos is a senior in a rare and elegantly immaculate car. Made of fiberglass, original Renault engine 1.0, dual carburetors and 70 horsepower. It may seem little, but do not forget that we are talking about a car that weighs only 535 kilograms (around 1179 lbs.).
The cabin is trimmed in black vinyl with matching carpets. A wood-rimmed steering wheel frames Horasa instrumentation including a tachometer with a 5,900-rpm redline, a 160-kph speedometer, and a five-digit odometer.
This is a very beautiful car of model year 1966 – last year of production – well known by Brazilian collectors. This magnificent model of Willys Interlagos production with its metallic burgundy paint and its black interior is probably one of the most desirable berlinettes. Willys Interlagos was the first sports car produced in Brazil between 1962 and 1966 and the name is an allusion to the Interlagos Autodrome and aimed to highlight the sportivity of the model.
