1938 Cadillac Fleetwood Seventy-Five Convertible

For 1938, V-8 Cadillacs featured distinctive grille designs—one for the Series 60 and one shared by the larger Series 65 and 75 models. While the Series 60 used thin horizontal grille bars that extended around the sides of the squared-off nose, the Series 65–75 cars had tall, vertical die-cast egg-crate grilles. Inside, the gearshift lever on all models was relocated from the floor to the steering column.

One of the unforgettable classic luxury cars that GM made under their Cadillac division is the 1938 Cadillac Fleetwood series 75. This luxury car had a V8 engine fitted into it, bringing out its best performance. The Cadillac series 75 were fitted in several bodies including coupes, convertible coupes, and sedans.

This car has a 4 door convertible/cabriolet type body with a front mounted engine driving through the rear wheels. It is part of Cadillac’s 38-75 family of cars. It’s powered courtesy of a naturally aspirated engine of 5.676 litre capacity. This unit features side valve valve gear, a 90 degree V 8 cylinder layout, and 2 valves per cylinder. It produces 140 bhp (142 PS/104 kW) of power at 3400 rpm. Power is supplied to the wheels via a 3 speed manual transmission.

The interior of this car is in excellent, museum quality condition as well. The Beige leather bench seat interior looks brand new, with little to no wear and tear. The rear passenger compartment has a working divider window, suicide doors, and an enormous amount of leg room. The woodgrain dash and door trim, as well as the steering wheel and gauges are in excellent shape. Even the chrome convertible top hardware is in spectacular condition.

In May of 2015, the elegant 1938 Cadillac Fleetwood Seventy-Five Convertible won “Best Cadillac” in the “All GM Car Show” in Woodland Hills, California.
