1956 Dodge Truck
The C series is a line of pickup trucks sold by Dodge from 1954 until 1960. It replaced the Dodge B series of trucks and was eventually supplanted by the Dodge D series, introduced in 1961. Unlike the B series, which were closely related to Dodge’s prewar trucks, the C series was a complete redesign. Dodge continued the “pilot house” tradition of high-visibility cabs with a wraparound windshield introduced in 1955. A two-speed “PowerFlite” automatic transmission was newly available that year. The Dodge Town Panel and Town Wagon also used the new design.
This 1956 Dodge Truck was powered by the original 270cid V8 engine and 4-speed transmission, it runs smoothly and drives easily.
The original builder had stripped the original sheetmetal, massaged it to perfection and set all the gaps prior to laying down a mile-deep coating of Green vibe. Features the large back window, new oak bed and new interior.
1956 was a huge year of change for the Dodge truck line; it had become clear that style sold cars better than function, so the company started looking to see what it could do with its trucks. The “hooded headlights” look of Chrysler’s carlines was moved over to their Dodge pickups, which also gained car-style. Dodge started calling their trucks “Power Giant”.
