1953 Studebaker Commander Custom 2 Door Coupe

The Studebaker Commander is the model name of several automobiles produced by the Studebaker Corporation of South Bend, Indiana (United States) and Studebaker of Canada Ltd of Walkerville and, later, Hamilton, Ontario (Canada). Studebaker began using the Commander name in 1927 and continued to use it until 1964, with the exception of 1936 and 1959-63. The name was applied to various products in the company’s line-up from year to year. The Commander was the company’s mainstream product, the Studebaker Champion was the junior model, and other models were short lived or renamed as market conditions required.

Frame-off restoration, chopped 5 1/2″, body sand blasted and metal primed PPG Concept Acrylic urethane single stage black, bodywork finished in lead, tubbed, powder coated frame, underside is completely detailed and painted. 514cid V8 Ford crate motor with 600hp and runs on pump gas. Art Carr manual shift C-6 automatic with 2,800rpm stall converter, Mark Williams aluminum Ford 9″ with 3.73 gears, Mark Williams carbon fiber driveshaft, coilover front suspension, leaf spring rear suspension, 4-wheel power disc brakes.

With a swing of the doors you are greeted with yards and yards of gray leather all neatly stitched to form the door panels. All gray leather save for the door opening handle which is near perfect chrome. Slipping inside this sleek sports car, the customization bleeds more gray leather with perfectly proportioned gray leather covered buckets looking like new. A custom center console, also in gray, sports the window toggles and a large storage glovebox. All these perfect chairs float in a sea of beautiful gray carpeting.

Using original design then accenting it with no chrome and just black paint, along with that airbrushed swoop spear on either side, and we have a great looker, good cooker, awaiting your foot to get a little goosey with your boot, and put a smile on your face while putting miles on this resto-modded beauty.
