2001 Mercedes 300 SL Restomod
The tuning studio has published a render of a very cool restomod based on the iconic German sports coupe Mercedes-Benz 300SL. So far, just a render, but such a car will definitely be built.
A Mercedes-Benz 300 SL Gullwing that used to be a 2001 SLK is for sale at a dealership in South Africa. The customer willing to pay $130,000 can take it home.
This new 300 SL Restomod is in a dark green finish. It also has a new front bumper, extended fenders, and reworked removable hardtop. The sports wheels of the car are highlighted by gold spokes and chrome rims for that mix of elegance and sportiness. The ride height of the auto appears to have been slammed down too for better driving dynamics, better ride comfort, and better handling. The car features a 3.2-liter supercharged V6 engine that develops 354 horsepower and a 5-speed automatic transmission. A yellowish leather covers the seats, upper side of the dashboard and steering wheel.
Like the other 300SL Speedster, the car rendered sits much lower than a standard 300SL and has been adorned with a host of new body panels that make it stand out. For example, there are flared arches at the front and rear and a unique front bumper. However, the most significant change made is the inclusion of a removable hardtop that beautifully flows with the Speedster-style windshield, giving the car even more visual appeal.
This new project, which will soon turn from a rendering into a real car, will be a follow-up to the S-Klub 300SL Speedster unveiled earlier this year. However, some key changes have been made to the new car.
The Mercedes 300 S Roadster is such a gem in the three-pointed star marque’s colorful history. So it is such a treat seeing one in a good condition, and it is such a delight seeing this classic being restored to its near-pristine condition. It comes as worrisome though whenever a tuner announces its plans to make major alterations to the vehicle.
