1973 Dodge Dart Sport 430-Powered

Dodge, like it’s other Chrysler brethren, had several muscle cars that were in production or debuted by 1970, which caused some of them to fade out of the collector scene that we see today. By 1973 or ’74, the American companies had lost that X-factor of styling and performance that gave the muscle car era its infamy, which was due in part by the gas crisis, but also just the changing times.

Its introduction of the Charger and Challenger were some of the most important releases in Dodge’s history and for good reason. They were stunning cars. But there are millions of articles about those two, which is why in the spotlight right now, will be the 1973 Dodge Dart Sport .

This 1973 Dodge Dart Sport has been refinished in metallic orange over a black interior and is powered by an overbored and stroked 430ci Mopar big-block V8 paired with a three-speed automatic transmission. Equipment includes staggered-width Weld wheels, a limited-slip rear end, a high-stall torque converter, a manual valve body for the transmission, a B&M shifter, a transmission cooler, a nitrous-injection system, a Holley carburetor, a fuel cell, fixed-back bucket seats, custom switchgear, and a roll bar.

The interior features a multi-point roll bar and fixed-back bucket seats up front, while the rear bench has been retained. A B&M shifter is located between the seats. The harnesses are mounted to the floor directly behind the seats.

The Dart was smaller and more tossable than most American cars, it was just as quick in a straight line, and it was fun.  We love simplicity, and with a car like the ’73 Dart, less is more. Dodge never tried to make it into something it wasn’t, they kept it cheap, reliable, practical, and classically cool into the mid-’70s – something most cars can’t relate to.
