1971 Oldsmobile 442 W-30

This is an extremely rare and unique car, and is definitely a standout car. It would be hard to find one like this and especially one in this color.

Very rare color, Code “43”, Lime Green with white interior. Options include air conditioning, Dual Gate shifter, Rally gauges, AM/FM radio, power brakes and power steering.

Matching numbers 455cid motor completely rebuilt. Matching numbers Turbo 400 transmission with “OW” transmission tag, which is W30 only. Carburetor, distributor, starter, water pump and alternator have all been completely rebuilt and detailed. Detailed pictures of every part before they were rebuilt. They all have the original stampings from the factory and are all date coded to the car. H-heads have stainless steel valves. Rear is a 3.23 posi-traction. Completely rebuilt with new posi-traction unit. Has all new polyurethane bushings front and rear.

Despite the falling sales numbers, Oldsmobile could take comfort in the fact that sales of every other muscle car were also in decline for the year. In addition, the 442 was still seen as one of the best muscle cars on the road due to its combination of performance and drivability.

And this was likely exactly what Oldsmobile wanted to hear, since the original 442 was inspired by the GTO. It never had the sales number of that car (or, indeed, most of the muscle cars), but it also had staying power.
