1969 Dodge D200 Power Wagon
The D/W series is a line of pickup trucks that was sold by Dodge from October 1960 to September 30, 1993. The same basic design was retained until the October 1993 introduction of a completely redesigned Ram. The D/W series shared its AD platform with the Dodge Ramcharger/Plymouth Trail Duster twins. 4×2 models were designated D, while 4×4 models were designated W.
The restoration process of this 1969 Dodge D200 took a lot of time, but it was worth it. The team that worked on the vehicle came from Time Warp Customs from Alpharetta, Georgia, the custom division of a retail 4×4 shop, Southern Off-Road. They had a client that ordered an old 1960s Dodge with modern features, and the result was one of a kind. The first thing one may notice is the extended and modern Mega Cab that didn’t exist in the ‘60s.
Even if you’re not familiar with these trucks (not many are), one of the most noticeable additions is the Mega Cab extension behind the rear doors. This additional space is equivalent to the modern Mega Cab allowing for additional leg room and storage. In this instance, the extra real estate also allowed Time Warp Customs to incorporate the custom exhaust stacks into the cab.
A factory crew cab and Sweptline pickup short bed and front end were transformed into a low-slung street machine hauling maximum style. At the heart of the Dodge is a custom 6.7-liter Cummins unit delivering 650 horsepower with 1,300 lb-ft of torque. The V-8 is equipped with Edelbrock performance cylinder heads, camshaft and intake manifold.
The D design was in production until the popular semi-tractor inspired redesign of 1994. In 1963, the D series was the first pickup truck with a Power Wagon “crew cab” option, a feature copied by almost every other full-size truck producer since. Dodge also produced high-performance sport editions of these trucks beginning in 1964.
