1969 Dodge Charger RingBrothers
Ringbrothers is among the masters of building restomods, and its latest creation shoves a Hellcat V8 into a bright yellow 1969 Dodge Charger. The company names the machine Captiv, and the muscle car is a perfect mix of classic looks and modern power.
The Charger makes an impressive yet “streetable” 707 horsepower from its Mopar Hellcat crate engine mated to a Tremec six-speed manual transmission. The build was completed for New Zealand-based motorsports legend and TV personality Greg Murphy.
Disassembly and prep began in New Zealand before the build made its way to Ringbrothers to bring Murphy’s vision to life. The Ringbrothers team completed the extensive metalwork, including making the Charger unibody and integrating the Flowmaster exhaust system. A custom BASF “Pile Up Yellow” paint job was then applied and the Hellcat crate engine was installed and filled with Motul engine oil for protection and performance. Other highlights of the build include custom HRE wheels, a QA1 carbon fiber driveshaft and adjustable shocks, Baer six-piston brakes, and a set of Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires. The build was also fitted with a top-of-the-line MoTeC engine management system and gauges.
The interior of the 1969 Charger has been fully customized with help from Upholstery Unlimited. While the overall classic layout has been, mostly, retained, all the materials have been upgraded. Ringbrothers have used the opportunity to present, for the first time, their new custom steering wheel. The vintage-inspired gauge cluster comes from MoTec and is complemented by a Vintage Air Gen IV Magnum Evap Kit Air System, and Fusion Head Unit with Kicker Speakers, in case you want to blast Highway song by Blackfoot, in your MOPAR.
This car might give the impression of being a classic, 1969 muscle car, but it is in all regards a modern car, with all the comforts we come to expect today, like leather sport seats, electric windows, airconditioning, the works, this really is a beauty.
