1968 Chevrolet El Camino SS
When Chevrolet unleashed the 1968 El Camino upon an unsuspecting market, they ended up striking gold. The El Camino was initially adapted from the body of Chevy’s standard two-door station wagon, integrating cab and cargo bed into the body.
For the 1968 model year, the Chevrolet El Camino entered its third generation with glowing success. It was larger and more muscular and featured a bevy of optional extras to accompany the lengthy roster of standard equipment. The SS package returned, too, giving customers an athletically stylish truck to haul, tow and enjoy some time out.
This Chevrolet El Camino is an outstanding bespoke muscle car, upgraded with a higher-revving modern LS3 V8, custom coachwork, and a modernised interior with greater comfort and refinement. Designed as a stylish American classic that really could be used every day, this build boasts fantastic attention to detail, and is sure to capture the imagination of enthusiasts who enjoy a 1960s V8 cruiser with a difference.
This Chevrolet El Camino is also equipped with a 454 V8 engine, which is topped by a set of Demon tri-power carburetors and aluminum heads. There’s also an aluminum radiator to keep it cool, plus a variety of polished engine parts to add to the underhood glitz. The 454 breathes through a custom exhaust system and mates to the 700 R4 automatic transmission with overdrive.
Coupe utility vehicles, known as “utes” in Australia, have been a popular choice for people who need to carry loads but don’t want a traditional pickup. These vehicles became major cultural touchstones in the United States and in Australia, though they’ve largely fallen from favour in recent years.
