1967 Pontiac Grand Prix

The Grand Prix debuted in 1962 as a sport-luxury variant on the full-size two-door hardtop platform of the Catalina and Ventura. It has since assumed many shapes and personalities in the course of four decades. Only once, however, in its 40 years has the Grand Prix been offered in a convertible format. Pontiac built versions of a Grand Prix convertible concept car, the X-400, from 1962 through 1964, but 1967 was the only year of a regular production Grand Prix convertible.

The Grand Prix has garnered numerous show awards for first place, including Gold finishes at the Muscle Cars and Corvette Nationals in Chicago two years in a row. At the most recent event, 980 out of 1,000 points were scored in the Concours Certified class.

As high-speed, limited-access highways were built across the nation in the 1960s, exploring America in a “king of the road” like this 1967 Pontiac Grand Prix convertible became the ultimate driving experience.

This 1967 Pontiac Grand Prix convertible is finished in Signet Gold Poly, and power comes from a 400ci/350hp V8 paired with a Turbo Hyrdra-Matic automatic transmission. Equipment includes front bucket seats, power windows, and 15″ Rally II wheels.

The pearl white interior is beautiful against the Signet Gold Poly exterior. The knobs, vents, instrument cluster are all in really great shape. Of course part of the Grand Prix package was bucket seats and a console. The upholstery is in excellent shape and cushions in the seats are still nice and firm. The door panels are great, armrests are not cracked, even the cranks and handles are excellent. Visors, mirror, seat belts are great too. The carpet is excellent and it has reproduction Pontiac floor mats.

The 1967 Grand Prix; introduced as an exciting new body form and considered a supreme example of elegant restraint, with concealed headlights and windshield wipers so as not to interrupt the dramatic sweep of its lines. This is the only year that the Grand Prix Convertible was included in the model line-up, with only 5,856 being produced.
