1966 Ford Mustang Fastback 2+2
The first-generation Ford Mustang was manufactured by Ford from March 1964 until 1973. The introduction of the Mustang created a new class of automobiles known as the pony cars. The Mustang’s styling, with its long hood and short deck, proved wildly popular and inspired a host of competition.
This 1966 Ford Mustang Fastback 2+2 is an incredibly handsome example of the iconic American muscle car which features a varied and interesting history file, and has evidently been subject to an earlier restoration which was performed to a very high standard. This smart example of the breed would make an ideal companion for relaxed weekend drives, and an excellent addition to any collection of Americana.
The replacement 289ci V8 is was overhauled a 0.030″-overbore and a 0.010″-ground crankshaft and resurfaced heads. Additional equipment includes a chrome open element air filter, finned Cobra valve covers, and a dual exhaust system with a crossover pipe.
The car is equipped with the “Pony” interior package which included chrome and wood grain accents as well as embossed horses on the seatbacks. The seats are trimmed in Red vinyl and the interior features a matching dashboard, door panels, and carpets.
Rally-style 14” wheels feature gray centers with polished accents and are wrapped in older tires. Braking is handled by discs up front and drums at the rear. KYB shocks have been installed at the rear.
Throughout history only a few iconic vehicle have been able to stay in continuous production to this date. A little more than a dozen cars from the 60’s are still available for sale with the same design philosophies. The Ford Mustang is among the list of those vehicles. Produced in Dearborn, Michigan from 1965-1973 the first generation mustang was subject to record breaking sales. This propelled Ford with a winning formula and a recognizable classic.
