1962 Chevrolet Corvette 454 LSX
Riding on a chromoly tube chassis, the custom touches added to this 1962 Corvette include a 1957 ‘Vette front end, a two-inch channeling of the body and an upswept rear tail that adds a distinctive profile. As heavily altered as the exterior is, the inside is even more unique with a completely custom cabin from the dash to the seats. About the only thing not altered on this show car is the wrap-around windshield. Almost the entire inside of this Corvette is lined with high-quality and leather, and the door openings add tube braces for added safety. It’s not clear if there’s a soft top on this ‘Vette, but the car does come with a removable hard top, which might be the only part of this car that hasn’t been customized.
The Corvette called “Illusions” was built by All American Street Rods in Gainesville, Virginia over five years with an estimated 10,000 hours of work. The body features a 1957 Corvette front and removable hardtop and rides on a chromoly tube chassis with TCI Engineering lower control arms, Strange shocks, QA1 springs, and 4-link rear suspension. Under the hood sits a 454 ci LSX V8 that makes 627 horsepower with forged pistons, 4340 steel rods, and hydraulic roller camshaft. The drivetrain consists of a 4L80E four-speed automatic transmission and Chris Alston’s Chassisworks narrowed FAB9 rear end with 3.89 gears and 35-spline axles.
The custom interior of this 1962 Corvette looks amazing with bucket seating, Saddle Brown leather upholstery with custom inserts throughout, electronic push-button shifter, power windows, polished tilt steering column, leather and billet aluminum steering wheel, Dakota Digital gauges, billet Vintage Air control panel, polished pedals and cup holders, along with a beautifully upholstered power trunk that is controlled via remote.
