1962 C1 Chevrolet Corvette 596
The Chevrolet Corvette, colloquially known in the USA as the ‘Vette, is a two-door, two-passenger luxury sports car manufactured and marketed by Chevrolet since 1953. With eight design generations, noted sequentially from C1 to C8, the Corvette is noted for its performance and distinctive fiberglass or composite panels. It was front-engined through 2019 and mid-engined since.
The Corvette is currently the only two-seat sports car produced by a major United States auto manufacturer and it serves as Chevrolet’s halo vehicle.
As if a 596ci V8 weren’t enough, it’s force-fed with a Vortech supercharger to the tune of 1,048hp. The old solid axel Corvettes and car trunks were last seen 1962 of Corvette production, until the 1998 Corvette convertible was introduced. The new engine change and the great look would cause Corvette sales to jump by almost one third.
Custom leather interior includes door panels with backlit inserts that match the grille. Look for the dark spots in the custom windshield pillars, those are the custom sideview cameras.
This is a truly exceptional example of an early Chevrolet Corvette C1, that has been restored to a world class standard by a dedicated enthusiast who set out with the goal of retaining as much as possible of the car’s originality. To that end he has gone to extraordinary lengths to use the correct parts materials and processes to create a truly authentic example and has uncovered and retained many of the original production markings along the way.
