1961 Jaguar E-Type SI
Jaguar is a British luxury car manufacturer located in Coventry, England. Founded by Sir William Lyons in 1922 as a manufacturer of motorcycle sidecars, the company’s subsequent car designs – such as the XK120 and E-type – are widely regarded to be some of the most beautiful in automotive history. Jaguar is currently part of Jaguar Land Rover, which was purchased by Tata Motors from the Ford Motor Company in January 2008.
Very early Roadster built in left-hand drive and despatched new to Italy
– 1961, 3.8-litre, flat-floor, factory hard-top. Not too many of these about.
Most of us imagine that the trend amongst the world’s top manufacturers of exotic automobiles to release an air-brushed artist’s impression of their new ultra-desirable, hugely powerful, impossibly good-looking, we’re only making a few, don’t ask how much and anyway they are all sold, model is a fairly recent phenomenon, however, it’s not. Way back in 1961, Jaguar Cars did just that with their forthcoming E-Type and the only difference was that the forecast list price for the new model was about half of what you thought it might be.

The long nose, thickly set hips and sensual lines come into their own with Gunmetal Grey and a red leather interior. A neat lady, but sneaking eye contact with lace at the Christmas table while you are in serious conversation with father-in-law. Neat, but on the edge.
This Jaguar E-Type Series 1 ‘Flat Floor’ 3.8 Roadster is a fascinating example of the iconic 1960s sports car, which had been very well preserved after more than 20 years off the road, but which has since been treated to a major mechanical restoration – while leaving the original bodywork. There can be few such cars that can boast their factory panels and paint, so this will no doubt appeal to discerning marque collectors. A significant car with sought-after first-year production features, chassis 92 is a wonderful find that has been rejuvenated by leading specialists, and which is now ready to enjoy on the open road or to wow the crowds with its originality at classic car shows.
