1956 Ford F-100 Big Window
The Ford F-Series is a series of light-duty trucks and medium-duty trucks (Class 2-7) that have been marketed and manufactured by Ford Motor Company since 1948. While most variants of the F-Series trucks are full-size pickup trucks, the F-Series also includes chassis cab trucks and commercial vehicles. The Ford F-Series has been the best-selling vehicle in the United States since 1981 and the best-selling pickup since 1977. It is also the best selling vehicle in Canada.
This 1956 Ford F-100 is a big window pickup was refinished in Impact Orange over a red vinyl interior. Power is provided by a 350ci V8 with a Holley fuel-injection system, a Edelbrock intake manifold and chrome air cleaner, black-painted valve covers, and mated to a 700R4 four-speed automatic transmission and a Ford 8.8″ rear axle.
Bright-finished 15″ Pacer wheels are mounted with Mastercraft Courser tires measuring 235/75 up front and Arizonian Silver Edition tires sized 255/70 out back. Mustang II front-end suspension components are installed along with four-wheel disc brakes and power rack-and-pinion steering.
The interior features a bench seat with a folding armrest upholstered in red vinyl as well as body-color steel surfaces and black carpets. A Classic Auto Air HVAC system is installed along with a JVC stereo with Bluetooth capability and aftermarket speakers. A banjo-style steering wheel sits on a chrome-finished tilting column and frames instrumentation including a 90-mph speedometer.
While the production of the second-generation Ford F-series pickup trucks ran from 1953-1956, the 1956 F-100 model was a wholly unique body style, a rare thing to see for a commonplace vehicle during any time period in the United States. The already beloved styling of these classic American trucks make them intensely popular with collectors, but the anomalous (yet good-looking) design of the 1956 model specifically puts it on a completely different level.
