1955 Cadillac Coupe Deville Custom

When released in 1955, the Series 62 Cadillac Coupe DeVille was the favoured vehicle of American’s rich and famous, from youthful rock-and-roll stars to graying bankers. The the elegant lines, prominent fins and bumpers and innovative low-slung body secured the ’55 Coupe DeVille’s position as true a motoring classic. The large, powerful V-8 and smooth shifting Hydra-Matic automatic ensured the car’s refinement wasn’t confined to the interior.

This 1955 Cadillac Coupe Deville Custom is “The Bronze God” is a multiple award-winning, one-off Cadillac Coupe De Ville finished in Desert Bronze. The interior features Italian leather with a 1950s tinsel brocade fabric insert, wool headliner and Italian wool carpet. The body has undergone a complete reshaping with a 3″ chopped top, lowered taillights, quarters lengthened and custom moldings. Mechanically you’ll find the original matching-numbers drivetrain and refinishing to the highest standards, as well as an automatic transmission. The Bronze God was built by Altissimo Restoration. It has Vintique wire wheels, chrome plating by Sherms and an interior by Plante Interiors. The car has won many awards for paint and Best of Show.

With this Cadillac powered by a 365 CI V-8 engine and a Hydra-Matic transmission, a glance under the hood lends the impression that it’s 1955 all over again with seemingly every detail attended to during the restoration.

The body style of this particular model was introduced in 1954. It features wrap-around panoramic windshield, a flowing Florentine curve roof line, a weather seal “flipper” above each door glass and higher tail fins. The dual exhaust system exits through the rear bumper ends. Chrome-plated aluminum “saber spoke” wheels were available.
