1954 Chevrolet 3100 5-window Pickup
Chevrolet’s Advance Design pickups were a vast departure from their Art Deco-inspired AK Series predecessor. The new pickups featured an extensively redesigned body with headlights blended into the fenders, a single-piece hood hinged at the firewall, a fixed single-piece front windshield with wipers mounted atop the cowl and hidden door hinges among other design features that brought truck design closer to car styling. The late 1940s, and especially through the 1950s, saw more manufacturers building trucks with greater interest on user comfort and convenience in mind, the concept being a more comfortable driver is a more relaxed and potentially more efficient worker.
This 1954 Chevrolet 3100 5-Window Pickup is the last of the Advance Design Series, with 1955 ushering in the new Task Force Series trucks. During the truck’s comprehensive operation, NOS parts were used throughout to ensure originality and correctness. This 3100 is powered by the 235 CI inline 6-cylinder engine and 4-speed manual transmission.
With the truck finished in red, accented with black fenders, black running boards and black windshield visor, the box features a varnished oak floor with stainless strips and bolts, while the body is well appointed with fresh chrome bumpers, grille, hood ornament and sideview mirrors.
Very nice black interior with a bench seat, 4 speed on the floor and nice dash and gauges. Beautiful chrome grille, bumpers, headlight bezels and emblems.
The iconic 1954 Chevrolet 3100 is the definitive example of an entire era of American pickups. It is no accident that at the time, GM was the leading manufacturer of U.S. trucks. This is a classic, beautiful vehicle with rugged good looks.
The 1954 3100 heralded the end of an era in classic trucks. Partway through the 1955 model year, Chevrolet would release a complete pickup redesign badged as the Task Force Series. Today, the 1954 Chevrolet 3100 truck is sought after by truck enthusiasts seeking a classic American vehicle.
