1947 Studebaker M5 Pickup

The M-series Studebaker trucks came in several versions both pre and post WW II. The M-5 was a 1/2 ton PU. The M15 was the 3/4 ton version. The M15A was the one & 1+12-ton version. The M5M15, and M15A all came with the Champion 169 ci. engine, only. The M16 1-1/2 & 2 ton versions came with the more powerful Commander 226 ci. engine. The Studebaker US6 version was produced during the war to government specifications; using a different nose and engine configuration, in both a 4×6 & 6×6 versions of a 2+12-ton truck. In early 1945, Studebaker was given permission to produce some M Series trucks for civilian use. These early post war civilian trucks used the Studebaker US6 cab with the government style swing out windshield.

This is an award winning and low mileage example of the classic 2-door M5 pickup truck from Studebaker restored with meticulous attention to detail and authenticity. Much of the pickup is brand new.

Known as an M5 version it features a rebuilt motor with all new parts. This is the famed 170 cubic inch flat head six with the popular Carter single barrel carburetor. The motor puts out 80 hp and this truck cruises down the road smoothly and “whisper” quietly at 65 MPH.

The Studebaker’s styling with its tall shape, trim dimensions, simple ornamentation and nicely rounded fenders is particularly attractive, at least it is to me. Studebaker M5 seemed like the ideal blend of homely utility and stylish design.

Factory heater, wide white wall tires, new chrome and bright work, correct dark green exterior with brown interior.

This truck is truly award winning including the 2014 AACA National First Place and was Favorite Truck in the 2015 Hemming’s Concours D’Elegance Cruise-in Spectacular.
