1942 Chevrolet Custom Pickup
1942 Chevrolet Pickup. Aside from how neat and classy this truck looks, it is actually pretty cool because it was made right at the height of the Second World War! So just knowing that this vehicle was made even though most metal and other materials were being funneled into the war effort is quite fascinating. Now we can move along to the body… SHE IS SOLID!
This truck has modified front fenders and a reworked bumper, a custom interior and excellent detailing. Between the fenders is a 383 CI Chevrolet V-8 engine with large air cleaner, aluminum intake manifold, Holley 4-barrel carburetor, MSD ignition and a Griffin aluminum radiator. This is backed with an automatic transmission, and power steering plus Wilwood power disc brakes have been added as well.
Matte light gun metal gray sprays the metal door panels, and dash. Warm chocolate brown in rectangular form houses the simple gauge cluster in front of the steering wheel. A few cream bakelite knobs are seen within the dash, as well as a newly covered chocolate textured vinyl bench seat. A vinyl headliner, and sprayed gun metal gray panels make up the interior roof of the cab. Utilitarian rubber in black covers the floors.
The Chevrolet Custom Pickup truck was a light duty truck sold under the Chevrolet brand, with production beginning in 1941 until 1947. It used the GM A platform, shared with the Chevrolet Deluxe. The Chevrolet Custom Pickup was also branded and sold at GMC locations, with the primary visual difference being the Chevrolet had vertical bars in the grille, while the GMC had horizontal bars.
This truck’s claim to fame is there is an actual Winross Truck Model patterned after it. The restoration is that beautiful, with a stunning color combination, straight steel, and eye-catching white grille, this truck is more comfortable taking you to the local country club, than hauling hay to the barn.
