1934 Pontiac Sedan 350 V8 700R4
Pontiac or formally the Pontiac Motor Division of General Motors, was an American automobile brand owned, manufactured, and commercialized by General Motors. Introduced as a companion make for GM’s more expensive line of Oakland automobiles, Pontiac overtook Oakland in popularity and supplanted its parent brand entirely by 1933.
Sold in the United States, Canada, and Mexico by GM, in the hierarchy of GM’s five divisions, it was slotted above Chevrolet, but below Oldsmobile, Buick, and Cadillac. Starting with the 1959 models, marketing was focused on selling the lifestyle that the car’s ownership promised rather than the car itself. By emphasizing its “Wide Track” design, it billed itself as the “performance” division of General Motors, which “built excitement.”
The Pontiac line for 1934 featured larger Fisher bodies as compared with the previous year, along with a completely new chassis riding on a 117″ wheelbase. Pontiac offered 7 models to choose from in 1934 beginning with a 2 door, 2 passenger coupe (3 window); a 2 door Sport coupe with rumble seat (5 window); a 2 door cabriolet with rumble seat; a 2 door, 5 passenger sedan; and a 4 door, 5 passenger sedan. In addition, there were both a 2 door and a 4 door Touring sedan with trunk available. An optional metal trunk was available for the 2 or 4 door sedan which was very similar in appearance to the Touring sedan body. All models were standard with 5 wheel equipment, the spare tire being mounted on the rear body. A single side mount spare was available, with or without a trunk rack. When 6 wheel equipment was ordered, the spares were carried in dual side mounts and a trunk rack was fitted to the rear body. All ’34 models were standard with safety glass in the windshield and all ventilator windows; side window safety glass was available as an extra cost option on all models.
Here is a nice and pretty rare car. It is a 1934 Pontiac Sedan 350 V8 700R4. This car is powered by a good running Chevy 350 engine with Eldebrock Carb and Intake, Aluminum Radiator and Dual Electric Fans to keep it running cool. It has chrome Alternator, chrome AC Compressor and alot more chrome. Engine compartment looks very nice. It has a 700R4 overdrive transmission that is great for Hwy cruisin.
It has good looking paint and the interior is nice as well. The seats, door panels, headliner and carpet are all in great shape. The steering column is tilt and it has a Lokar shifter with a nice Pioneer Stereo/CD player hidden in the glove box. The windows are power and they work and the Vintage A/C system is Brand New.
This hot rod looks just fab and it fired right up, sounded great, and took off with vigor to the test track. Here it has nice smooth acceleration, smooth shifting, and good braking with the power front discs. No rattles or squeaks, and all was functioning on the control front including the AC blowing nice and cold. The seats are like your recliner at home, so beware of falling asleep while driving.
