1925 Stutz Model K Firetruck
This 1925 Stutz Model K Fire Truck, built to the same exacting standards as all other Stutz motor cars, by virtue of its intended purpose is in lovely overall original condition with a repaint in the 70’s. Fire engines in general are rarely driven – the occasional parade and, of course, to fight fires (this one saw its last action over 70 years ago).

This example shown is a 750 gallon fire truck with rotary gear pump. It is adorned with fire related equipment such as ladders, hoses, axes and more. It had been built specifically for the Darby, PA Fire Department.
As with most of the museum’s apparatus collection, little is known of this engine’s career. At some point it ended up with the Whittier Fire Department, or the Whittier Firefighter’s Association, where it may have seen service. They found it in an orange orchard in Orange County, in working condition. The pump was being used to irrigate the orchard’s trees!
This one is powered by a gigantic inline-six displacing upwards of 1000 cubic inches — more than enough to shoot a jet of water right across the Huron River.
